Brad Calder is an Executive Director on the investment team at The Investment Fund for Foundations (TIFF), where he helps steward capital for endowments and foundations across public markets. His work focuses on portfolio construction, manager selection, and the practical application of economic theory to real world investing.
Prior to TIFF, Brad worked on investment teams at The Wallace Foundation and Lepercq de Neuflize & Co. Earlier in his career, he lived and worked in China, teaching at a public primary school and later founding an educational consulting business. That experience shaped his interest in global markets, institutional design, and how incentives drive outcomes across systems.
Brad studied economics and philosophy at the University of Rochester, graduating with highest distinction, and earned a TEFL certificate from Peking University. He currently volunteers on the Investment Committee of Founders Pledge and writes about investing, technology, and economic systems here at Acme Reporter.
Brad lives in Philadelphia with his wife, Sophie Calder-Wang, a professor at the Wharton School, and their daughter. In his free time, he enjoys running, reading, and thinking about how capital allocation shapes the world over long horizons.
